What is Limit Phone?

Limit phone is an app and website blocking app. It’s designed to keep you away from troublesome feeds whilst maintaining the utility of your phone.

Is Limit Phone like a ‘dumb phone’?

Kind of. It’s the best ‘dumb phone’!

Limit Phone keeps the helpful parts of your phone ‘smart’ but blocks the harmful parts.

How do I control which apps are blocked?

Today - You can’t. I’m planning to add this soon.

Why is the install process so scary?

To really control your device the Limit App has to be installed this way. It is pretty extreme, but it’s also what sets Limit apart from other blocking Apps and makes the blocking so robust.

I’m worried about installing Limit on my main Android Phone - what can I do?

Buy a recent Moto G phone for $100 and give it a try on that first.

How does Limit block Apps?

Apps are blocked directly in Android, you cannot open them or receive notifications. There is no way to circumvent this.

I need to install a work profile on my phone, does Limit Phone work with that?

No.

When opening some apps why does it say: “Blocked by Work Policy”?

This is the Limit App, it is your “Work Policy” and your “IT admin”.

How does website blocking work?

Website blocking is done by installing a second App on your phone: The “Limit Browser”. This is a custom build of firefox with Limit’s built-in blocking.

The website blocking prevents you from visiting the feeds of problematic apps, but still lets you see a single post / video from those sites.

To make sure you’re using the Limit Browser all other browsers are blocked (e.g. Chrome, Firefox etc.).

What devices does Limit Phone work on?

Limit Phone works best with Pixel phones. It’s also been tested on recent Motorola phones.

It should work on any recent Android phone - please contact me if you have any issues.

Can I trust Limit to manage my device like this?

Can you trust anyone really?! If in doubt, don’t use Limit. I’m a solo developer and I promise you I’m not doing anything nefarious with your data / phone.

Does Limit Phone and it’s creator take any responsibilty for data loss / breaking your phone?

No. You install Limit Phone at your own risk.

Will Limit Phone always be free?

Not sure. My plan is to make it a paid app if it’s successful. Early users will get a good deal if this happens.
